Airfryer, if you still haven't heard about
it, is this magical fryer that uses rapid air technology to fry whatever you
desire with little or no oil at all! Air becomes the new oil! I own a PhilipsAirfryer as it is the best airfryer in market as Philips patented this
technology.
We know that all good things in life are illegal, married to someone else, fattening or fried ;). With an airfyer you don't have to give up your favourite fried foods at least! What else do you want in life? Nowadays when you don't have time and energy to cook, an airfryer is one of the best ways to get healthy food with less hassle.
I always say that what you can do with an airfryer depends on how creative you are in your kitchen. But, if you are not a cooking genius like me, you can still fry, cook, bake, grill .... all with this one gadget. With airfryer in my house, oil consumption has really reduced but my snacking is still going really strong .... ;)
If you are contemplating on what can be done in an airfryer, here is a small, little teaser....

Fried Chicken
You can fry chicken by marinating chicken with tikka masala or any other seasoning that you may like. Simple seasoning is salt, red chili powder, lemon and yogurt. Marinate the chicken overnight (recommended - but leave it in fridge) or a few hours at least and chuck it into your airfryer. I usually do not add any oil at all, but if you want, you can lightly brush it with a bit of oil.
You can also coat with eggs or bread crumbs.
The drawer of the airfryer can be opened any time to check whether the chicken is done or not! It will be succulent and tasty and will taste same as deep fried stuff!
It is a hassle and trouble free dinner option for me when I come back from work...
Prawn or Chicken Skewers
Marinate pieces of chicken or prawns for at least 3 hours in a mixture of soy sauce, red chili powder, salt, Worcestershire sauce and sesame oil (optional). Put in a skewer with capsicum and onion between every prawn or chicken piece. Add a coating of sesame seeds and put in airfryer.
Minced Meat Kebabs
In chicken or beef minced meat add onions, green chilies, coriander, roasted cumin, salt, pepper and spring onions. Add mushed up slices of bread that has been soaked in milk as a binding agent. Make kebabs. Put a layer of foil on the basket mesh and fry the kebabs. You can have them just like that or with bread.
Wedges, French Fries, Nuggets
Yes! you can have your favourite fries, wedges, crackers (papadum) and nuggets with 80% less guilt. The best part is that even children can do their snacks themselves as there is no hot oil involved. Of course the basket of airfryer is hot but sputtering of hot oil is far more dangerous. The oil is also wasted when you deep fry things.
Corn
Microwave a full cob of corn for 2 minutes. Spread butter and airfry for 10 minutes! I dont like it over cooked so for me it is as is in the picture but you can cook for another 5 minutes to have that burned effect that you get when you make corn on charcoals. It was really soft and juicy with butter, salt and pepper infused in really well.
Cheese Toasts
This is my favourite and whenever the weighing machine gives me a happy signal, I go and get indulged in this cheesy treat. Just put a slice of cheddar cheese on a toast and sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese. Put in the airfryer for 3 minutes or until the cheese melts and starts turning golden brown. A yummy toasted, crispy cheese toast is ready. You can make it tastier by adding other toppings like boiled and shredded chicken or anything of your choice.
Fish Fillet
Marinate fillet of fish in Soy sauce, black pepper and Olive oil. Put a layer of foil on the mesh and put in airfryer. It will be moist and tender and ready in 10-15 minutes!
Eggs
You can fry an egg with zero oil by putting it in a silicon cup or a souffle bowl and frying it in airfryer. My favourite recipe, however, is beat eggs like you do for an omelet. Add your favourite toppings like onions, coriander leaves, mint etc and fill half of the souffle cup. Let it cook for 5 minutes, open the basket, sprinkle some cheese and put it back for another 5 minutes. Yummy eggs are ready without a drop of oil!
Cakes & Cakes
I baked a muffin a few days ago using a random recipe online. But since my baking skills are almost non existent, I don't usually do much baking experiments but I know people who have done cheese cakes and brownies in an airfryer. I will be trying more soon and keep you all posted!
Another benefit of having an airfryer is that when you are usually cooking for a bigger party, all the frying can be done on the side in an airfryer while you use your stove for other cooking. This is a great additional helping hand when you have a lot of things to cook!
The airfryer comes with recipe book and an app as well. You can find recipes on Philips official website also. Click here
I will keep adding all my airfryer experiments on the blog. Keep following The Ordinary Girl and Rubab's Treasure Box for more recipes and tips!
