A Tiny Break with Great State Voucher

A few weeks ago, I won the @southaustralia’s Great State Voucher to be availed in Adelaide City. We were not too excited to be honest, because we live quite close to the city and visit it every month for shopping. Half-heartedly we booked a hotel choosing a rainy day because all we intended to do was to spend a day off at the hotel and the weather did not matter much.

But, as the day approached close, I started feeling a little excited. I packed a bag for the night’s stay and realised that finally my travel toiletry pouch and praying mat would be used. I thought about what needs to go in the bag and meals we will have. I had not done this for such a long time that just the planning started to make me happy.

We reached earlier than our check-in time and had a hearty lunch at our favourite restaurant. And as expected, it rained all day but by now we had gotten in the holiday mood, so we walked in the rain to get some tea. We checked in at @ibisadelaide and after settling in decided to step out and walk around the @cityofadelaide like tourists, pretending to see it for the first time. It was so much fun. We did not go in any shops, we had no agenda, no time constraints…. we walked around recalling the initial days of our life in Adelaide when we would come to explore the city and basically, to pass time. We relived some moments, laughed and joked, took photographs, enjoyed the rain and watched the beautiful sunset before grabbing some snacks and dinner and heading back to the hotel.

When we returned home, it felt we were away longer than just a day… refreshed and energised we learned how these tiny breaks can do wonders. And also, that these breaks need not involve very elaborate planning or travel, a little time off 10 kms away from your home can be as enjoyable <3

Thank you, @satourismcommission for this much needed gift <3
