Truck Art Fever

If someone asks me about an art that represents Pakistan, I would say the ‘Truck Art’. Yes, a splash of colours and motifs on a truck and public bus!! When we were young we used to call it 'dulhan bus' (Bridal bus). Truck art is loved and appreciated internationally as well. Beautifully embellished trucks with sculpted metals, paint, stickers showcase the mastery of truck artists. Truck art is not just about floral designs and painting but also verses, lines and poetry which at times are very deep and thought-provoking and sometimes extremely funny. It is an art of its own kind which has been inspiring people for a long time.

With time this art seeped into other industries as well. Now we can find clothing and other decoration items inspired by truck art. I hope that one day I will have a truck art corner in my house. I was overjoyed when I came across this page on Facebook by the name of Enigma House of Fashion & Design where I found these amazing truck art trinkets, clutches, key chains and what not.

I went ga-ga over most of their stuff and have been ordering ever since. Not just for myself but also to keep as presents for my friends who simply adore these unique arty gifts.

Last year I ordered these beautiful rings and bangles from them. They just go so well with my casual western outfits as well as eastern. As most of my wardrobe is black, these trinkets come handy when I want to throw in a bit of colour.

This beautiful peacock magnet represents Pakistan on my fridge where I have magnets from all over the world.

Best of all, I  have this amazingly beautiful clutch which works in two ways for me. First, it spices up a really simple and plain dress giving it a formal party look. Secondly, all the attention moves away from me and is directed to my clutch! It is normally a conversation starter and is noticed by every single person. Thus, now I do not have that awkward nothing to talk about moments. I also have had people coming and asking me to take its photograph. It is like a celebrity.

Recently, I asked Engima to make these super amazing customized card holders to be given away as presents basically for my husband’s clients who are into artsy and colourful stuff. All the pieces have a unique design and have the company's logo at the back. Enigma House of Fashion & Design provided top notch service and were able to deliver the order on time when I had given them really few days to work on it from conception of the idea to the actual execution. But look! what a fine job has been done!

The team at Enigma is always open to discuss ideas, provide feedback and also value the feedback you provide to them. There is wide range of products that they create and deliver to most parts of the world.

Truck art stuff is great not only to own but an excellent thing to gift especially if you have non -Pakistani friends. Check out their page and start placing your orders :)

Please do tell me of similar small businesses that are creative and can be trusted.

  2. These are beautiful! You know, we have jeepneys back in Manila (Philippines) that had beautiful art on them. I got curious about the Truck Art and googled it. They are amazingly colorful! Reminds me of our Jeepneys back home. (Not as intricate as the Truck Art, though.) =)

  9. I thought I have never seen a truck art before because most buses in the city have commercial/advertisements on them or just the name of the bus or actors or models promoting a brand. It will be refreshing to look at wonderful colors and patterns. The clutch looks so nice!

  10. First time to know about "TRUCK ART", maybe I have seen it or we called it here in the Philippines in another word/name. But truly, art is a symbol of once culture.

  14. These are really a matter of personal taste. I am not really a fan of very colorful accessories. My wife and daughter are also not too much of too much color, or too much accessories.
