Celebrating a Decade of Love ....

"I have now been married ten years. I know what it is to live entirely for and with what I love best on earth. I hold myself supremely blest — blest beyond what language can express; because I am my husband's life as fully as he is mine"
- Charlotte Brontë

21st December 2016 - Our 10th Wedding Anniversary

Ten years ago this day, I had said the most important "Yes" of my life. I cannot believe it has been a decade as every single detail of that day is still so fresh in my mind. I still remember how my heart had skipped a beat when I had signed, literally on the nikkahnama, my life away not knowing that very soon it would be impossible to imagine a life without him. When my mother gave him my hand for the first time, I still remember how tightly he gripped it signalling he will never let it go. I still remember that earlier the same day when I was getting ready at a beauty parlour and while he was at his home managing everything for Nikkah ceremony in evening, I had received an SMS from him. A plain SMS that just said 'I love you'. I still remember the butterflies in my stomach. Throughout our courtship, he had never expressed his love but he had done it that afternoon when I needed it the most.

You'd think it was just a one-time thing but 10 years later, he still does that - on a mad busy day, when he knows I'd be stressed, he sends me little love notes. Leaves my favourite chocolate on the table when he knows I'd need a bit of cheering. He grips my hand tightly when we cross a road or when he thinks I need a reassurance. He'd tidy up the house or fold the laundry when he sees I have been unable to do it because of work... and this list knows no end...

I am thankful to God for every single thing that He has blessed me with, but I am more thankful to God for these little, ordinary things... the ordinary that has made this journey so beautiful that I want it to last forever....

 InshaAllah...
